Getting to Bodhgaya:
By Air: Nearest Airport is Gaya at a distance of 8 km but the main airport is in Patna and about 106 km from Bodhgaya. Easily accessible by Domestic Airlines this place is. Delhi and Kolkata have International Airport from where Domestic Airlines for Bodhgaya are easily available. Indian Airlines has few regular flights to Gaya.
By Train: Nearest Railway Station is Gaya at a distance of 16 km from Bodhgaya, linked up with Delhi and Kolkata. From Gaya Station you can take a taxi or bus service is also frequently available from Gaya to Bodhgaya.
By Road: From Kolkata to Delhi the National Highway No.2 is the main road communicator which is passing through Patna. And Bodhgaya is woven with some more roads and streets with other parts of the state.
Buses and taxis are available to/from Bodhgaya to just about everywhere, including:
- Patna (3 to 3.5 hours by taxi; 4+ hours by bus)
- Varanasi (5 - 7 hours)
- Raxaul is the closest border crossing into Nepal: 9 hours by taxi; 12+ hours by bus and you must change in Patna with connection times those are not convenient so you may have to spend the night in Patna. But it is better to avoid the way because of its bad road condition it takes too much time.
- Rajgeer or Nalanda (2 hours in taxi; 3+ hours by bus)
- Raanchi (7 hours by bus)
There are so many ways to reach Bodhgaya but it is entirely upon you that how will you reach Bodhgaya but the most convenient way is getting to Bodhgaya by air and to get down at Gaya Airport.
